Thom,
I wish I had better news for you, but the there really isn't a good top roping solution close to the East Side campground. That doesn't mean there aren't ANY options, but the options are limited. First, take a look at the recommended routes info on the Web site.
Problem is that these top roping options are pretty far from the camp ground. The closest alternative option would be the routes on Tourist Trap. These routes CAN be top toped, but you need to do a few things:
- To get to the top for set up, you must hike out the High Peaks trail. Climber Access signs indicate where to cut over to the top of the cliffs.
- Use a long (180') rope in order to safely TR Thrill Hammer or Rat Race.
- Bring long runners and possibly natural pro for supplements to the set ups.
If you have the option, you might consider going to the West Side rather than the East. On the West Side, Passion Play Wall, just outside the old camp ground, offers easy TRing with a moderate, 3rd class approach (use caution). The West Side also offers the Bouldering Rock with both bouldering and a couple short TR options.
Hope this helps. Have fun and stay safe.
