- Pinnacles Raptor Monitoring Update for July 2024
(posted: Jul 27, 2024)The 2024 raptor breeding season at Pinnacles National Park (PINN) is coming to an end. Here is an update on how the season played out this year.
Climber Alert! Closure Violations.

Please Observe All Closures
On April 28th, 2022 (a Thursday) two climbers were seen approaching a climbing closure sign at Machete Ridge. They apparently read the sign and chose to continue up to the formation.
As you probably already know, raptor-related climbing closures are in effect and most of Machete Ridge is closed to climbing. Blatant ignorance of the Parks annual closures seriously erode our relationship with the Park service and could lead to additional climbing restrictions.
If you know these individuals or anyone else who is knowingly or unknowingly violating the closures, please remind them that adhering to these closures is critical to ensuring access to climbing at the Park now and in the future.
Stay Safe and Climb On!
